Once a coal storage facility, it’s now home to the Antepavilion charity and its globally renowned art-architecture prize. WHERE INDUSTRY MET WATER
Once the heart of East London’s coal trade, In the 19th and early 20th centuries Hoxton Docks buzzed with the activity of barges unloading tons of coal straight from the Regent’s Canal. It was a working hub built for heavy industry: strong brick warehouses, iron gantries, and a non-stop flow of fuel that powered homes and factories across the city.
